Pattern Inspiration: Graphic Knits by Alexis Winslow

October 8, 2014

Hot off the presses (and just in time for fall!), Alexis Winslow‘s latest book is full of bold projects for adventurous knitters. In Graphic Knits: 20 Designs in Bold, Beautiful Color, there are many great projects for welcoming autumn, including four show-stopping designs knit with Blue Sky Alpacas Yarns.

For a quick knit, choose two colors of Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk yarn to make the Jalopy Belt. This reversible chevron-striped belt is a versatile way to update your fall wardrobe, and the pattern is easy to memorize, making it perfect for on-the-go knitting.

The Minnow Top re-interprets chevron patterning with an openwork lace design knit in Blue Sky Alpacas Metalico yarn. The top is meant to be worn with a lot of positive ease which accentuates the beautiful drape and sheen created by Metalico‘s 50/50 blend of baby alpaca and mulberry silk. This elegant shell is an excellent layering piece for any time of the year.

The Rook Pullover incorporates interesting construction elements within the popular top-down seamless sweater formula: the set-in sleeve caps are worked at the same time as the rest of the shoulder, allowing the stripes to be perfectly matched up! Knit with Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk, this pullover features a bold geometric color work pattern around the body and cuff and stripes on the shoulders and back. With 33 yarn colors to choose from, there are endless possibilities!

Last but not least, the Trilogy Cardigan which appears on the book cover is a fresh take on the popular flowing, draped cardigan. The unusual construction gives the illusion of intarsia blocks, but with much cleaner diagonal lines. Knit with our well-loved Sport Weightyarn which boasts a variety of color options, this versatile piece can be worn in a number of ways, thanks to the hidden buttons behind the shoulder inside the cardigan.
