Up, Down, All-Around Blog Tour Kick-Off

May 20, 2014

We’re pleased to announce the start of our all-star blog tour celebrating today’s release of Wendy Bernard’s new book, Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary! The first of this kind, this ground-breaking reference offers up to 4 different directions in which a stitch pattern can be knit, all of which are shown in Blue Sky Alpacas yarn! It’s a must of any craft library, a great tool for instructors, and a handy shop reference, too. We’re looking forward to sharing more with you in the weeks to come via the tour stops listed below.

Each tour stop will showcase a chapter from the book and offer you a chance to win a signed copy of Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary, 3 lovely skeins of yarn and a Pretty Cheep project bag from Blue Sky Alpacas!

Wendy Bernard is kicking off our tour this special introduction she wrote just for our blog! She will also be interviewed on the Ready, Set, Knit! Podcast next month, and we’ll be sharing more of Wendy’s appearances on our social media channels, too.

Hello Everyone! Wendy Bernard, here. Blue Sky Alpacas is allowing me to guest post today to celebrate the release of my new book, Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary.

I bet some of you are wondering what my book has to do with Blue Sky Alpacas yarn. Well, for starters, when I was in the planning stages of Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary, I knew that I wanted to color code the chapters, and what better idea than to ask Blue Sky Alpacas to supply the yarn? I have always admired their range of colors and just knew that the fibers would photograph beautifully. Not to mention, each chapter has an accompanying pattern using Blue Sky Alpacas yarn.

If you’re reading this post, it is likely that you are a knitter or know lots of people who do. So, let me tell you what makes this book so special: You know how stitch dictionaries only show you a bunch of instructions to recreate the stitch patterns in a flat plane? And further, if you want to knit a hat or some other garment in the round, that you would have to re-chart, re-figure, convert or find someone else to help you so that you can do so?

In Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary, I did all the work for you. Not only do I present stitch patterns flat and in the round, where the stitch pattern is directional, I present it so that you can knit it bottom up, or top down. In other words, should you be knitting a top-down sweater with a leaf motif, now you have the opportunity to knit that top-down sweater so that the leaves are oriented exactly the way you want them to without re-charting, converting or living with leaves that fall up rather than fall down!

Join us for an exciting blog tour full of book giveaways and other good stuff. Also, follow me on Twitter at @KnitTonicWendy for more promotional news, and a tutorial on using Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary to custom-design your own cowl with any pattern you like!
