You Are My Sunshine

November 26, 2013

Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky’s newest colors: Coyote, Sunglo, Shine, and Marine.

A fresh burst of color is a welcome respite from the gray days of winter. So when the new shades of Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky arrived we decided that sunny-yellow Shine would be the perfect choice for our Trellis Scarf.

Of course the Trellis Scarf has more going for it than just the color. For starters, it’s fast to knit (and by fast, we mean really fast, size 35/19mm needles). Better yet, if you take a little care as you work, you won’t be left with any pesky ends to weave in.

A closer look at the Trellis Scarf.

What’s the secret? The tails for the cast-on and bound-off stitches become part of the crazy-awesome fringe. Take care of all the other ends with a quick spit-splice. Knitty has a great tutorial that explains exactly how to do this.

This project is so much fun you’re bound to make more than one. Luckily there are lots of Bulky colors to choose from. I already have a bunch lined up for my holiday gift list (I’m keeping the Shine for me!). Which color will you use?
